how
to scan my photos

Here are some tips for scanning and e-mailing
images:
• Preview your scanner settings before
finalizing the scanning process.
• Scan original 5x7 or 8x10 photograph at
400dpi (this is a good resolution for
restoration and printing).
• For photos smaller than 5x7, scan photo at
600dpi or higher, keeping in mind
size of jpeg file once it's saved.
• Look at original photograph to be sure
you've gotten the best quality image
possible for that photo.
• Save the image as a jpeg file, with the
highest quality setting under "image
options" in the jpeg pop-up window.
• Because the image is scanned at a high
resolution, its final file size will be
larger than most images you've uploaded or
downloaded on the web.
• Remember, the higher the resolution, the
higher the image quality will be.
